A grassroots feminist organisation, rooted in Gilgit-Baltistan
IEI Pakistan works with girls, young women, teachers, mothers, and whole communities in the remote mountain valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan — building safe spaces, local leadership, climate resilience, digital access, and community-rooted education.
Our work is grounded in a simple belief: the people closest to the challenges should be trusted, resourced, and supported to lead the change.
The people closest to the challenges should be trusted, resourced, and supported to lead the change.
Across the Saheli Movement, Climate Action, Digital Sovereignty, and Education, IEI creates pathways for girls and young women to gather, learn, speak, organise, earn, respond to crises, and shape the decisions that affect their lives.
Counted, and uncounted
Since 2016, IEI has worked alongside girls, young women, teachers, mothers, and communities across Gilgit-Baltistan. The numbers show the scale — but impact is also a girl finding her voice, a young woman leading a flood response, a teacher changing her classroom.
What we do
Saheli Movement
A feminist collective where girls build friendships, leadership, and collective power through Saheli Circles and Saheli Fellowships.
Explore ›Climate Action
Young women training frontline mountain communities to prepare for and respond to climate disasters.
Explore ›Digital Sovereignty
A girls-only digital ecosystem — Tech Sahelis Labs, the Freelance Accelerator, and capacity-building courses.
Explore ›Education
ECD schools and public libraries, local women educators, and feminist advocacy for who gets to learn.
Explore ›Four commitments that shape every programme
Local leadership
We hire educators and organisers from within the community, so knowledge stays rooted and trust stays local.
Continuous support
Not one-off workshops. Daily guidance in local languages through Teacher Support Groups and mentor circles.
Consent first
Free, Prior and Informed Consent is obtained before any photo or story of a girl, woman, or family is shared.
Community-funded
We run on small donations and philanthropic microgrants. No corporate sponsors, no political donors.

Bring your wings
IEI grows through people who show up — volunteers, mentors, teachers, and partners who believe girls in the mountains should lead the change around them.
